We have now taken a step forward in this initiative and are bringing to our viewers “Classic Legends” with a person who is himself a legend, who has himself done stellar work and received global recognition, Mr. Javed Akhtar. Zee Classic proudly presents ‘Classic Legends’ with master storyteller Javed Akhtar as the host. Premiering at 7.30 PM on Sunday, December 11, Zee Classic brings you the stories behind the faces of this Evergreen Age of Hindi cinema on ‘Classic Legends’.
It’s a guided biography by Javed Akhtar of men and women who gave the industry some of its most celebrated iconic movies and music! Over a period of 13 weeks, the show will feature a different legend - actors, directors, writers, musicians and lyricists - every Sunday evening. It will showcase the works of thirteen of the most admired and respected legends namely, Raj Kapoor, R D Burman, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Kishore Kumar, Nargis, Bimal Roy, Vijay Anand, Ashok Kumar, Sahir Ludhiyanvi, Mehboob Khan, Madhubala, Guru Dutt and Shammi Kapoor! Drawing from his vast personal and professional experience in the industry, he will take viewers on a journey through the lives and vast expanse of work of these legends that have brought Indian cinema to the point at which it stands today. Viewers will learn more about the lives of these yesteryear heroes by the person who has had the good fortune of following these legends’ work extremely closely. Such a treat has never been offered to viewers before.
"Given the decades that I have spent in this erstwhile film industry and the talented creative minds that I have had the good fortune of meeting and learning from, it is only fitting that I pay a tribute to the personalities with whom I have come to greatly admire over the years. While there are many movie channels on air, it is only through Zee Classic that today’s generation will ever be acquainted with the glorious classics of decades gone by.
